向玉，副教授，硕士研究生导师，湖北工业大学大学英语部第二教研室主任。美国鲍尔州立大学、英国剑桥地区学院访问学者。省级线上线下混合式一流课程《走进中美文化》负责人，省级线下一流课程《大学英语2》骨干成员，大学英语基层教学团队骨干成员，校级“课程思政”示范课程《大学英语》、《学术英语视听说-1》负责人。主讲《大学英语》、《走进中美文化》、《学术英语视听说》、《托福》、《雅思》等课程。主持参与完成各类国家级、省级、校级项目10余项，参与国社科和教育部项目各1项，发表论文10多篇，主编教材2部，指导学生获批国家级、省级大学生创新创业训练项目。

1.本教材根据《大学英语教学指南》对学生跨文化交际能力提出的新要求编写,兼顾中西文化的介绍和阐释，帮助学生深入了解两类文化的内涵。2.本教材从食物、教育、节日、婚俗等贴近生活的角度选取主题，同时，融合了新能源汽车等新兴的交叉学科话题，既能满足学科知识的学习，也可以培养学生的创新思维和解决实际问题的能力。3.本教材融入思政元素和党的二十大精神，结合中国非遗文化特色以及湖北工业大学校本工科特点。
