“博雅”学科英语系列教程属于大学英语高阶课 程教材，供非英语专业学生使用。一般情况下，学生 在完成三个学期的基础英语课程学习后，在第四学期 开始该教程的学习。1.该教程属于通识英语类教材。 通识英语（ELE，即EnglishforLiberalEducation） 以英语语言为载体，以人类文明、科学、文化发展为 主题，有内容、有深度，以拓展学生的知识视野、提 升学生的人文素养和批判性思维能力为目的。是一种 特殊形式的“专门用途英语”。2.人文素养的提升和 思维能力训练是教程编写的指导思路。“人文素养” 决定了教程主题虽然与学科相关，但具体内容并非为 深奥的专业知识，而是更近似于本学科的科普类教材 。“思维能力训练”则要求练习设计摆脱传统语言教 材模式，强调对课文内容的反思和知识的运用。3.英 语语言能力的提升也是教程的重要教学目标。在该教 程中，学科知识的学习和课后练习均通过英语语言实 现。从英语教学的角度看，语言知识的输入采用基于 内容的教学方法（content-basedinstruction,CBI ），语言技能的提高则以输出任务为驱动（output- driven）。因此，英语语言能力在学习完成后必然得 到很大程度的提升。 邵珊主编的《文学(真与美的追寻博雅学科英语 十二五江苏省高等学校重点教材)》梳理并呈现文学 的起源与定义、文学经典的特质、文学思潮的划分、 文学大家的生平与贡献、文学研究的方法与变革、文 学论文的写作等文学素质培养的重要方面，使学生全 面了解文学学科的本质与特征，开启深入阅读和研究 文学经典的兴趣，提升文学欣赏和研究的能力。
