《Specification for Hydrologic Computation of Wate》:
4.1.1 Computation and analysis of suspended load shall include the following items depending on design requirements and data condition:
1 Long-term annual average sediment concentration, long-term annual average sediment runoff and their distribution within the year.
2 Annual average sediment concentration, annual average sediment runoff and their distribution in typical wet, normal and dry years.
3 The measured maximum cross-section sediment runoff and time of occurrence, maximum and minimum annual sediment runoffs and the years of occurrence.
4 Long-term average grain-size distribution and long-term average grain-size distribution in flood season, the average grain-size,median grain-size and maximum grain-size and mineral composition.
5 The sediment spatial distribution.
4.1.2 Data shall be corrected for consistency when sediment runoff at project site is significantly affected by human activities. The applicable methods for correcting may include sediment discharge method, topographic method and item-by-item investigation method.
4.1.3 Statistic of sediment characteristics may be analyzed when there are over 20 years of suspended load data with sufficient repre-sentativeness at the design basis station.
4.1.4 If the measured suspended load data series at the design basis station is less than 20 years, or the representativeness is not sufficient even though the time series is over 20 years, the following methods may be applied for extrapolating such data:1 Whenthe discharge data series is relatively long, the discharge and sediment discharge relation curve method may be ap-plied.
2 When there exists relatively long suspended load data series at benchmark stations of upstream or downstream or adjacent river basins, a suspended load runoff correlation curve between the design basis station and the benchmark station may be established.Such a correlation curve may then be used for data extrapolation considering the difference in sediment yield and discharge properties in the intermediate area or in adjacent river basins.
4.1.5 For the representativeness analysis of suspended load data, the following methods may be applied depending on data conditions:
1 When the suspended sediment data series is relatively long, the representativeness of the long data series or selected representative series may be assessed according to Clause 1 of Article 3.4.2 of this specifica-tion.
