Sino-Africa International Symposium on Textiles and Apparel and Sino-Africa Symposium on Cultural Exchangehave been held for the eighth time since 2015 and it has been a great success in exchange of textiles and apparel research, education and culture between African and Chinese universities, research institutes, business, government,and international agencies. It focuses on not only progress of textile and apparel technologies, but also the environmentally friendly social and economic development of the world for a Community of Shared Future for Mankind. Thisindicates that the scope of the symposium has been expended from a specific domain of textiles and apparel to moregeneralized and global interests for a better future of mankind. A total of 125 research papers have been selected forthe proceeding, almost doubling the number in the previous one. The authors come from 15 universities in 6 countries including Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan, Uganda, Hungary, and China. These papers cover a wide range of topicssuch as protective clothing, textile engineering, nano technology, textile materials, wearable technologies, appareldesign and technology, textile management and marketing, textile history and development trend, as well as Sino-Africa culture exchanges.
This symposium provides a valuable opportunity to review the latest progress in the collaboration and exchangein the textiles and apparel education and research, culture and social economic development between China and Africa. It will also shed a light on development of textile business and strategies for our battle against the social economicdifficulties and problems in the future.
