　　《中国冰川图鉴》以我国西部存在现代冰川与古冰川遗迹的各个主要山系（阿尔泰山、天山、帕米尔高原、喀喇昆仑山、昆仑山、唐古拉山、念青唐古拉山、冈底斯山、喜马拉雅山、横断山等）为重点，全面总结了中国冰川资源及其变化状况，展示了我国西部地区现代冰川景观，一些曾经考察地区与重点监测地区冰川景观近几十年来的变化状况和地质历史事情冰川遗迹（第四纪冰川）景观等内容。
　　《中国冰川图鉴》精选照片300余张，几乎涵盖了中国所有的冰川。按中国冰川分布、冰川类型、冰面景观、冰川地貌、冰川变化、冰川资源与灾害，以及冰川野外考察等进行编辑，并配有简要的中英文说明，科学地解说了每张照片的基本内容和相关的冰川学基础知识。
