宁肯，1959年生于北京。现已出版长篇小说《蒙面之城》《沉默之门》《环形山》《天·藏》《三个三重奏》。另有中短篇小说集《词与物》《维格拉姆》，散文集《说吧，西藏》《思想的烟斗》。获第二届、第四届老舍文学奖长篇小说奖、首届施耐庵文学奖，第四届《人民文学》长篇小说双年奖，第七届北京文学艺术奖,首届香港“红楼梦奖”推荐奖，《当代》2001年文学拉力赛头名，第八届茅盾文学奖提名，首届美国纽曼文学奖提名。散文集《北京：城与年》获得第七届鲁迅文学奖。

FengKang’sancestralhomewasinShaoxing,ZhejiangProvince.HewasborninWuxiin1920,andspenthischildhoodandteenageyearsinSuzhou,JiangsuProvince.In1939hewasadmittedtotheDepartmentofElectricalEngineering,NationalCentralUniversity,majoringinphysicsandmathematics.In1945heservedasateachingassistantintheDepartmentofMathematicalPhysicsatFudanUniversityinShanghai.In1946hetaughtatTsinghuaUniversity.From1951to1953hestudiedattheSteklovMathematicalInstituteintheSovietUnion,underleadingSovietmathematicianPontryagin.In1954hepublishedhis“GeneralizedFunctionTheory”andestablishedthegeneralizedMerlintransformationtheoryatthesuggestionofProfessorHuaLoo-Keng.Inthelate1950sandthe1960sFengKangledateamtodiscoverasuccessfulcourseforChina’scomputationalmathematicsfrompracticetotheoryandthenfromtheorytopractice.In1965FengKangpublished“DifferenceSchemeBasedontheVariationalPrinciple”inAppliedMathematicsandComputationalMathematics,whichmarkedChina’sindependentfoundationofthefiniteelementmethod.HeservedasdirectorandresearchfellowoftheComputingCenteroftheChineseAcademyofSciencesfrom1978to1987,andasanacademicianoftheChineseAcademyofSciencesfrom1980to1993.HewasthepresidentoftheChinaSocietyforComputationalMathematicsfrom1985to1990.FengKangpassedawayinBeijingin1993.

ChenChunxian(1934-2004),borninChengdu,SichuanProvince,wasaleadingnuclearphysicist.HestudiedintheSovietUnionfrom1952to1958.From1959to1966heengagedinresearchanddevelopmentoftheoreticalphysics,lasersemiconductorsandothernewareasattheInstituteofPhysics,ChineseAcademyofScience.From1970to1986heinitiateddomesticfusionresearch,andestablishedthefirstTokamakdevice(No.6)attheInstituteofPhysics,ChineseAcademyofSciences.Later,hebuiltthefusionbaseoftheChineseAcademyofSciencesinHefei.ThescaleandlevelofthebasearestillthehighestinChina.In1978,afterthe“culturalrevolution,”ChengChunxianwasamongthefirstgrouppromotedtoresearcherfellow(professorlevel).ChenJingrunwasinthesamegroup.ChenChunxianattendedthefirstNationalScienceandTechnologyConference.HewasalsooneofthefirstbatchofdoctoralsupervisorsapprovedbytheNationalAcademicDegreesCommittee.DuringhisthreevisitstotheUnitedStatesfrom1978to1981,heproposedtoestablish“China’sSiliconValley”inZhongguancunandsetupthe“AdvancedTechnologyServiceDepartment,”whichpromotedthedevelopmentofZhongguancunhigh-techenterprises.Hewasknownas“thepioneerofprivatescienceandtechnologyenterprisesinZhongguancun.”In1986helefttheChineseAcademyofSciencesanddevotedhimselftothedevelopmentofnew-technologyindustries.InOctober1997hewasengagedastheseniorconsultantoftheScienceandTechnologyEntrepreneurshipCenteroftheBeijingMunicipalScienceandTechnologyCommission.In1998heco-foundedtheGoldenGateBridgeScienceandTechnologyDevelopmentCenterwithentrepreneursandscientistsfromSiliconValleyintheUnitedStates,focusingonpromotingthedevelopmentofmajorprojectsinthenew-technologyindustry.In2002heinitiatedandfoundedtheventure-consultancyagencyoftheChenChunxianStudio.HepassedawayonAugust9,2004.

WangHongde,bornin1936,graduatedfromtheHarbinInstituteofElectricalTechnologyin1956,andenteredtheInstituteofComputingTechnology,ChineseAcademyofSciences.In1957hewaslabeledasa“Rightist.”In1979heservedastheleaderofthepowersupplyandair-conditioningsystemgroupoftheFourthResearchOfficeoftheInstituteofComputingTechnology.OnDecember22,1982,the46-year-oldWangHongdetookeightengineerswithhimandfoundedtheBeijingJinghaiComputerDevelopmentCompany.Thecompanyrealizedanoutputof8millionyuan-worthinitsfirstyear.In1986theJinghaiIndustrialCorporationwasfounded,whichrealizedasalesrevenueofmorethan50millionyuaninthesameyear.TheJinghaiGroupwasfoundedin1987,anditsannualoutputreached920millionyuan--worthin1999.In2001JinghaiestablishedBeijing’sfirstprivatescienceandtechnologybusinessincubatorcompany,whichincubated49companiesinthreemonths.TheGuangyuanBuilding,wherethecompanywaslocated,wasofficiallyrenamedtheBeijingHigh-TechIndustryIncubatorBasebytheBeijingmunicipalgovernment.

WangXuan(1937-2006),borninShanghai,isanexpertincomputerwordprocessingandthefounderofChinese-characterlaserphototypesettingtechnology.Heisknownasthe“contemporaryBiSheng.”HegraduatedfromthemathematicsandmechanicsdepartmentofPekingUniversityin1958.In1965heengagedinthedesignoftheALGOL60compilationsystemoftheDJS21machinetogetherwithChenKunqiu,XuZhuoqunandothercolleagues.In1967theirworkwaspromotedamongdozensofusers,andbecamethefirsthigh-levellanguagecompilationsystemtogetrealpromotion.Since1969WangXuantooklong-termsickleaveforthesakeofhishealthandlivedontheminimumwage.In1975WangXuanengagedinthe“748Project,”researchanddevelopmentofaChinese-characterinformationprocessingsystem.Asthechieftechnicaldirector,heledtheresearchanddevelopmentoftheChinese-characterlaserphototypesettingsystemandtheelectronicpublishingsystemlater.Thelattersystemgainedaleadingpositionathomeandabroad,whichcompletelytransformedthetypefaceprintingthathadbeenusedinChinaforhundredsofyears.Since1981WangXuanhasbeencommittedtothecommercializationofresearchfindings,enablingtheChinese-characterlaserphototypesettingsystemtobecomeacommodityin1985andwidelypromotedinthemarket.

In1988WangXuan,asthemaininitiatorandtechnologydecision-makerofPekingUniversityFounderGroupCorp,proposedthe“upstandinganddauntless”developmentmodeforhigh-techenterprises,activelyadvocatedthecombinationoftechnologyandthemarket,andpavedthewayfortheintegrationofproduction,educationandresearch.HewaselectedtotheChineseAcademyofEngineeringin1994,andjoinedtheJiusanSocietyin1995.InJuly1995theInstituteofComputerScience&TechnologyofPekingUniversityandPekingUniversityFounderGroupCorpjointlyestablishedtheFounderTechnologyResearchInstitute.WangXuanservedasthedean.Inthesameyear,hebecamethechairmanoftheboardofFounder(HongKong)Co.,Ltd,establishingtheone-stopsystemcoveringlong-termresearch,development,production,systemtesting,sales,trainingandafter-salesservice.WangXuanpassedawayin2006.

WangYongminwasbornintoapoorpeasantfamilyinYaheIndustrialDistrict,NanyangCity,HenanProvince,inDecember1943.In1962hewasadmittedtotheDepartmentofRadioElectronics,UniversityofScienceandTechnologyofChina.From1978to1983hedevotedhimselftotheresearchintoandinventionofthe“Five-StrokeMethod”(Wang’sCode),whichwascalled“assignificantastypography”byexpertsbothathomeandabroad.Byusingandintegratingthelatestmultidisciplinaryachievements,heputforwardthe“threeprinciplesforconfigurationcode”andthefirst“Chinesecharacterrootsperiodictable.”HealsoinventedanefficientChinese-characterinputmethodusing25keysand4codesaswellasword-compatibilitytechnology.Hesettherecordofinputting100Chinesecharactersperminuteandobtainedthreepatents--fromChina,theUSandBritain,respectively.From1983onandforthenext15years,histechniquesspreadtomorethan90%ofdomesticusers.In1984WangYongminwasawardedthe“MayDayLaborMedal,”andreceivedthehonorarytitlesof“NationalExpert”and“NationalOutstandingScientificandTechnologicalPerson,”aswellasothertitles.InApril1988hewasrankedamongthe“TenNationalModelWorkers”speciallyrecommendedbytheStateCouncil.Since1994hehassuccessivelyinventedfivepioneeringpatenttechnologies,includingthe“98Wang’sCode,”“readingaudiotranslator”and“businesscardmanager.”

In1998WangYongmincameupwiththe“Standard98Wang’sCode,”aworld-leading-levellanguageprocessingsysteminlinewithnationallanguagespecifications,whichcouldcanhandlethecharactersofChina,JapanandSouthKoreasimultaneouslyforthefirsttime.Healsolaunchedtheworld’sfirst“comprehensivesolution”toChinese-characterkeyboardinputandcorrespondingsoftware,whichwasamilestoneinChinese-characterinputtechnologydevelopment.OnJune26,2004Wang,afterfiveyearsofresearch,completedadigitalChinese-characterinputmethodwhichreceivedfivepatents,triggeringthedigitalrevolutionofChinesecharacterinputtechnologyandfundamentallysolvedtheproblemof“difficultChinesecharacterinput”inmobilephones,telephonesandSPCs.

WangJizhiwasbornonJanuary26,1941.Hewasaseniorengineer.HisfatherwasWangLi,afamousChineselinguist.WangJizhiwasadmittedtotheDepartmentofMathematicalMechanicsofPekingUniversityin1957,andgraduatedin1963withabachelor’sdegreeinmathematicalmechanics.In1980heparticipatedintheinstallationanddebuggingofthecomputercontrolsystemforthe1.7-meterrollingmillofWuhanIronandSteelCorp.,andwasawardedthetitleof“TechnicalExpert”bytheengineeringheadquartersoftheproject.In1984hedevelopedaChinese-languageprocessingsystemonamicrocomputermadeinAustralia.Hispaperwasselectedforthe1983InternationalSymposiumonChinese-languageInformation.InApril1986his“developmentandpromotionoftheM1570S/SCcolor-printedChinesecharactercard”wonthefirstprizeoftheScienceandTechnologyProgressAwardpresentedbyHaidianDistrict.InOctober1986his“ChineseandEnglishtypewriter”wonthesilvermedalintheSecondNationalExhibitionofInventions.InSeptember1987his“StoneMS-2401Chineseandforeignlanguagetypewriter”wonthesilvermedalattheThirdNationalExhibitionofInventions.In1988hewasawardedthehonorarytitleof“ExpertwithOutstandingContributions”bytheBeijingmunicipalgovernment.InApril1990his“Electronictypewriterappearancedesign”wonanationalpatent.InJune1991his“displaymethodonasmall-screenword-processingdevice”wasgrantedanationalpatent.InNovember1992hewasjointlyawardedthetitleof“China’soutstandingprivatescienceandtechnologyindustrialist”bytheStateScientificandTechnologicalCommission,theAll-ChinaFederationofIndustryandCommerce,theChinaAssociationforScienceandTechnologyandtheChinaPrivateTechnologyEntrepreneurAssociation.InJune1996heappliedforapatentandobtainedtheapplicationnumberfromtheNationalIntellectualPropertyAdministration,PRCfor“themethodandspecialdeviceofinputtingatargetlanguageintoacomputersystem.”HehasbeenamemberoftheStandingCommitteeofthePeople'sCongressofHaidianDistrict,Beijing,ChineseInformationProcessingSocietyofChina,ChinaAssociationofHigh-TechIndustriesandChinaAssociationofPrivateEntrepreneurs.

FengJunwasbornin1969inShaanxiProvince.Hewasoneofthefirst“self-employedentrepreneurs”inZhongguancun.HegraduatedfromtheDepartmentofCivilEngineeringandArchitectureofTsinghuaUniversityin1992,foundedtheHuaqiInformationDigitalTechnologyCo.,Ltd.in1993andfoundedAigobrandin1997.In2006hewonthe“CCTVChinaeconomicpersonoftheyearinnovationaward.”Currently,heisthepresidentofHuaqiInformationGroup,andchairmanofAigoGroupandAigoO2O(Beijing)NetworkTechnologyCo.,Ltd.HeisamemberoftheNationalCommitteeoftheChinesePeople’sPoliticalConsultativeConference(CPPCC),acentralcommitteememberoftheChinaNationalDemocraticConstructionAssociation,anda“Davosworldyouthleader.”

AftergraduatingfromTsinghuaUniversityin1992,FengJunquitasecurejobtopursuehisentrepreneurialdreaminZhongguancun.Heusedtopullcartsandsellcomputercases.After13years,hebuiltAigointoamightynationalITbrand.UndertheleadershipofFengJun,HuaqiInformation’sturnovermaintainedasteadygrowthof60%everyyearfortenconsecutiveyears.Aigomobilestorageproducts,MP3anddisplaydevicesfirmlyholdthetopthreeplacesinthedomesticmarket.Withmorethan10branchesinforeigncountries,HuaqiInformationstroveforfullaccesstotheinternationalmarket,andbuiltAigointoaninternationalbrandwhichChinaisproudof.In2006hewontheCCTVChinaEconomicPersonoftheYearInnovationAward.OnMarch24,2008,asChina’sfirsthigh-techpersonageinthe2008BeijingOlympictorchrelay,heparticipatedinthetorchrelayinAthensontheBeijingOlympictorchcollectionday.In2009hewasawardedthetitleof“Afigureofoutstandingcontributiontointellectualpropertyinnovationanddevelopment”and“leaderoftheyearinpromotingandinfluencingChinesebrands.”In2011hewonanawardasoneofthe“top-teninnovativefiguresinChina”attheChinaBrandInnovationConference.

WangJiangmin(1951-2010),founderandpresidentofBeijingJiangminTechnologyCo.,Ltd.(Jiangminantivirussoftware),wasChina’sleadinganti-virusexpert.Hewasaseniorengineer,directoroftheChinaDisabledPersons’Federation,CPPCCmemberofYantaiCity,ShandongProvinceandvice-chairmanoftheShandongDisabledPeople’sAssociation.

WangJiangminwasborninShanghaiin1951.Hewascrippledwithpolioattheageofthree.Aftergraduatingfromjuniorhighschool,hereturnedtohisancestralhomeofYantai,ShandongProvince,andworkedasanapprenticeinacommunity-runfactory.Hemadehimselfamechanicalandphotoelectricexpert,withmorethan20inventionstohisname.In1988WangJiangmincameintocontactwithcomputers,andrealizedthatopticalelectromechanicalautomationmustrelyoncomputercontrol.In1989hespentmorethan1,000yuanonaCEC1(ahome-madecomputer),andthenextyearheboughtan8088personalcomputer.HedevelopedindustrialcontrolsoftwareviaBASIClanguage,buttheusersofhissoftwarefoundthattheircomputerswereoftenstrickenbyviruses.SoWangfirstusedDebugtokillvirusesmanually,thenhebegantowriteprogramstokillspecificviruses.ThefirstviruskilledbyhisprogramwasVirus1741.Wangusedtopublishhisprogramsafterhesucceededinkillingvirusesinnewspapersandperiodicals.Later,hefeltthatitwastroublesometouseindependentprogramstokillviruses,sohecombinedsixprogramstokilldifferentvirusestogetherandnamedthenewprogramKV6.Later,therecametheKV8,KV12,KV18,KV20andfinallytheKV300.WangJiangmindiedattheageof59duetoaheartattackonApril4,2010.

WangZhidong,borninDongguan,GuangdongProvince,in1967,isthefounderofsina.com.InMay1989heenteredInstituteofComputerScience&TechnologyofPekingUniversityheadedbyProfessorWangXuan.Themainproject“Chinesemulti-windowgraphicssupportenvironment”passedtheministerialappraisalinDecemberofthesameyear.InJune1991heindependentlydevelopedandlaunchedtheBDWin3.0,thefirstpracticalChinese-languageversionofWindows3.0,whichwasoneofthesevennewproductsfromthePekingUniversityFounderGroupCorpin1991.AfterleavingFounder,hefoundedXintiandiElectronicInformationTechnologyResearchInstituteinApril1992,andservedasitsdeputygeneralmanagerandchiefengineer.InMay1992heindependentlydevelopedandlaunchedChineseStar1.1,theworld’sfirstpracticalChinese-languageplatformofWindows3.1.InFebruaryofthefollowingyearhedevelopedChineseStar1.2,theoverseasandupgradedversionofChineseStar1.1.TheprogramsgainedrapidpopularityinChinaassoonastheywerelaunched,andacceleratedtheapplicationofcomputersinthecountry.
